Mike Rust

Michael Rust is currently serving as the NOAA Aquaculture Science Coordinator where he supports the agency’s portfolio of research on all things aquaculture.  He also evaluates and uses the products of aquaculture science to communicate complex issues to non-scientists and inform policy and decision-making. Prior to his current position, Dr. Rust lead the Marine Aquaculture Research Program at NOAA’s Northwest Fisheries Science Center, was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines, worked for NGOs on aquaculture development in Haiti, taught and supervised graduate students at the Universities of Washington and Idaho, and generally kept his hands wet trying to raise all manner of aquatic life in captivity.
