Sandy Andelman is Vice President, Conservation Strategy and Partnerships with the Wildlife Conservation Society. Previously, she spent twelve years at Conservation International, most recently as Chief Scientist and Senior Vice President, where she worked throughout the tropics. From 1998-2005, Sandy was Deputy Director of National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS). Since 2016 she has served as a trustee of the JRS Biodiversity Foundation which invests in the people and institutions who share biodiversity knowledge for Africa. She was a World Economic Forum (WEF) Transformation Leader, a member of the WEF Global Agenda Council for Food Security and has served on numerous international advisory boards. She has published widely in the field of conservation biology, including on biodiversity monitoring systems, systematic conservation planning, ecological informatics, the connections between nature conservation and food security, and on climate change and protected areas. Sandy received her Ph.D. from the University of Washington in behavioral ecology for work on primates in East Africa.
