Local perspectives in protected area design

Researchers assert that effective protected area (PA) design must carefully include biological indicators and policy design that take local realities and perspectives into account. “Human activity” must be defined carefully — treating all activities equally surrounding a given PA greatly affects the definition and realization of success.
